Celery root has a mild, slightly sweet flavor with a hint of anise. This makes it very useful in all kinds of dishes such as salads and soups. For this creamy celery root soup, you only need a few ingredients. Fills your belly on a cold fall or winter day. Very easy to make and ready to eat within 35 minutes.

Ingredients for Creamy Celery Root Soup

For 4 servings

  • 1 celery root
  • 2 leeks
  • 1 onion*
  • 1 vegetable bouillon cube
  • 800 milliters water
  • 100 grams of dairy spread
  • 200 grams of shrimps or ham cubes
  • salt and pepper


*After a stomach reduction, your intestines can find it difficult to tolerate onion. If necessary, leave out the onion if this goes for you.

  • cutting board
  • knife
  • oven tray
  • blender or soup maker

How to create Creamy Celery Root Soup

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Chop all the vegetables roughly and divide them into an oven tray. Set in the oven for 30 minutes.
  3. Boil water and make broth. Next, add the vegetables, broth and dairy spread to a soup maker or blender. Blend until smooth.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste and garnish with shrimp or chopped ham. Enjoy a delicious meal!

Soup is excellent if you have just had your surgery and are still in the liquid phase. However, it is also a healthy choice if you have had bariatric surgery for some time. Just be careful with ingredients such as onion and leeks. You may not tolerate them as well as before.
