Recipe for Healthy Hot Chocolate

Now, what is winter without Hot Chocolate? Simply to see a steaming mug makes our hearts melt. The aroma and flavor are pure bliss. However, hot chocolate is, especially with whipped cream, also a high-calorie sugary bomb. Good thing there is a healthy version! This Hot Chocolate will make you happy this winter.

Did you know that…

Raw cacao contains antioxidants and minerals such as magnesium, copper, and iron? That's why raw cacao powder is a much healthier choice over chocolate. Cause besides cacao, chocolate bars are mostly full of sugar, fats, and sweeteners. They create flavor, but also make you crave to keep snacking. With raw cacao powder, you've no worries about that!

You'll need this

For 1 serving

  • 150 milliliters of skim milk or unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • 25 grams of Pure Whey Protein Natural
  • 1 teaspoon coconut flour sugar, honey, or sweetener

This is how to make healthy Hot Chocolate

  1. Heat the (almond) milk in a saucepan.
  2. Take the milk off the heat and stir in the cacao powder and Whey Protein.
  3. For light chocolate milk with a good layer of foam, stir a little more.
  4. Pour into a mug and voilà, here's your winter treat!

Tip from our dietician Solenne

There is plenty of variation with Healthy Hot Chocolate. Add a mashed half banana and a pinch of cinnamon, for example. Or choose light coconut milk instead of (almond) milk.
